How it works

The thermal release of the MCCB operates by sensing the temperature of the bimetallic strip. As the current through the MCCB increases, the temperature of the bimetallic strip increases. If the temperature exceeds the setpoint, the bimetallic strip bends and opens the contacts, disconnecting the MCCB from the power supply.

The magnetic release of the MCCB operates by sensing the magnetic field created by the current flowing through the MCCB. If the current exceeds the setpoint, the magnetic release trips and opens the contacts, disconnecting the MCCB from the power supply.
